Oman National Cricket Team Vs Namibia National Cricket Team Match Scorecard

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Group B clash between Oman and Namibia, held on June 2 at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, delivered a thrilling encounter marked by a rare Super Over finish.

Oman, opting to bat first, faced early setbacks as Namibia’s Ruben Trumpelmann made history by dismissing both openers—Kashyap Prajapati and captain Aqib Ilyas—on the first two balls of the match, becoming the first player in T20I history to achieve this feat. Despite these early blows, Khalid Kail anchored Oman’s innings with a steady 34 runs. However, Namibia’s bowlers, led by Trumpelmann’s impressive 4/21 and David Wiese’s 3/28, restricted Oman to a modest total of 109 all out in 19.4 overs .

In response, Namibia’s chase was equally challenging. Jan Frylinck’s resilient 45 runs kept Namibia in the hunt, but Oman’s Mehran Khan bowled a remarkable spell, taking 3 wickets for just 7 runs, including two crucial dismissals in the final over, to level the scores at 109, leading to a Super Over .

The Super Over saw Namibia’s David Wiese and captain Gerhard Erasmus accumulate 21 runs against Oman’s Bilal Khan. Wiese then returned to bowl the Super Over, conceding only 10 runs and dismissing Naseem Khushi to seal Namibia’s victory by 11 runs.

This match was the first Super Over in a T20 World Cup since 2012 and the fourth tied match in the tournament’s history . David Wiese’s all-round performance earned him the Player of the Match award, highlighting his pivotal role in Namibia’s narrow triumph
